Double French Pleat - Interlined & Lined Curtains.
Double French pleated curtains.
French pleated curtains have buckram stiffener sewn into the heading. This is then folded into double pleats to reduce the overall width of the fabric to the required finished width. Pleats are secured by hand stitching with heavy duty upholstery thread at the base to create the double pleat effect. Standard pleats are 10cms long from the top of the curtain to the base of the pleat. Longer buckrams are used on very long curtains. French Pleats are spaced at intervals and the spacing will be consistent and even within the pair of curtains. Pleats can be decorated with covered contrast buttons shown here.
